Edward E. (Swede) Sutter
Funeral services for longtime Hanna resident Edward E. (Swede) Sutter, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Hanna Recreation Center. Friends may call at the center at 10 a.m.He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Woodland Park, Colo., a son of Edward and Elgean Sutter. He was raised in Woodland Park and Colorado Springs. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served aboard the USS Saturn during Wold War II.

Friends may call at the center at 10 a.m.He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Woodland Park, Colo., a son of Edward and Elgean Sutter. He was raised in Woodland Park and Colorado Springs. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served aboard the USS Saturn during Wold War II.
After the war, he returned to Colorado Springs where he met and married Mickey.In his early years, he was a logger, prospector and steel worker. He was Golden Glove boxing champion in Colorado Springs. They moved to Boston where he pursued a career as a profession. That ended when he was injured when a car he was repairing fell on him. They returned to Colorado Springs where he began working as an apprenticeship in brick masonry. Shortly after becoming a mason, he started his own business and worked in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. He settled in Wyoming in the early 1960s.When he moved to Rawlins, he started Gold Brick Enterprises, a masonry company, with his son, Steven.
He became proficient at stone masonry, an art that has been passed down to a son and grandsons.He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He spent as much time as he could with family and friends in these activities. He taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to appreciate the wilderness, wildlife and Wyoming heritage as much as he did.He was loved by all who knew him. He had a zest for life and fun. He had a great sense of humor and was always teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved every minute with him. He liked all people and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey; his mother and father; four brothers; and two sisters.He is survived by his children, Donna Hudson, Linda and Adam Uhrich, Vicki Fannin and Jim Lee, and Steven and Sharron Sutter; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Ken Sutter and Don and his wife, Lil Sutter; two sisters, Ruby and her husband, Ted Reynolds and Susie and her husband, Dale Schuerman.
He is a man who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
